Elodea Orders

Some of our STEM/Science kits use the aquatic plant Edodea as one of the experiment requirements.

Elodea can only survive in the dark/out of water for a few days, so we do not ship this with the Kits.  Instead, please use the order form below to order your Elodea and we will deliver to you, free of charge, within 2-3 business days.  Please ensure you provide an accurate postal address and quote the Elodea order number you will find on a card within your kit.  Each order number is unique and can only be used once.  Should you need more stocks of Elodea you can purchase this locally in any pet shop which sells tropical fish.

Care of your Elodea

You will receive a few damp strands of Elodea (enough for your experiment) in a sealed plastic bag.

If you are not going to use it for a few days please place the unopened bag into your fridge where it will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Before use, rinse your elodea, remove any loose/brown leaves and leave in water (ideally pre-boiled) for 2-3 hours before starting your experiement.

Elodea leaves are only 2 cells thick so it is a great plant to use for both photosynthesis experiments and to investigate plant cells under a microscope.

Elodea is invasive and will rapidly grow to fill a pond, where it can affect other plant and animal life (especially shrimps) so please dispose of carefully in the bin after use.
